Bojack Horseman: Seriously Underrated

BoJack Horseman is an underrated comedy that slides under the radar most of the time. Unless you're a hardcore Netflix user or someone deep into tumblr quotes and memes, you may have missed this amazing adult cartoon. It hurts me that this show doesn't get the attention it so duly deserves. Right from the title sequence, which documents BoJack’s sad decline from network sitcom star to drunken has-been—set to the beautiful theme song written by the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney—this is one of the most thoughtful comedies ever made. Which doesn’t mean it’s not hilarious, of course. Will Arnett is the voice of BoJack and Paul F. Tompkins, who is insanely funny, plays the innocent pretty boy simpleton Mr. Peanut Butter. This is a show that cuts straight to the difficult realities of life straight in the eye. There are times when BoJack will cut deep to the core of who you are as a person. The underlining feelings and thoughts we hide away from those closet to us—this is not a story of redemption. One minute you will be laughing at some funny scene or wordplay and next be crying like a newborn baby. He will do something that will give you great heartfelt moments and the next moment will be filled the horror of who we are as a human beings. It's crazy that a horse is showing us who we are far better than any live action series.

There is a strong Bojack cult following. Maybe it’s because Bojack cuts deep. Like an emotional wound that won't heal because we are forever picking the scab and tonguing the sore of what makes us human, what makes a feel and what makes us who we are. Are we all depressed, self destructive little shits. You decide. If you want to laugh, cry and be a little more sadder than you are. If you want to have a emotional breakdown or an existential crisis or just step outside of your life for a few hours while you binge this series. It's all up to you. I can't recommend how much this series has touched me so far and I look forward to seeing what will come of it in the years to come.
